Rosie

A Good Morning Birthday Kiss!

How could you resist anything sweeter than a birthday kiss from your little brother!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! I am sitting here in a quiet house while the kids are at my Mom's. I don't know what to do with the quiet but it is a nice change. I am waiting for Rosie to wake up.

We had Joanie's 7th birthday on Sunday. It was so sweet to go out with her shopping and have her all to myself. She is a very thoughtful shopper. She had in her mind what she wanted and carefully made her selection. We looked at stuff for over 2 hours. I think she debated between two different doll sets in the Target for 20 minutes alone. She was so excited to decorate her cake and be the star.

Daniel was so excited for someone else's birthday to get more cake. He thinks it is for him. He tried to blow out Joanie's candles on her.

Heidi went missing on us. She stowed away in the car for 30 hours and had us worried. It is amazing how much a cat can mean that greets you until they are not there. We are just so thankful it wasn't summer when she tried this adventure.

Moriah is loving her cursive handwriting and giving us beautiful notes everyday. I keep thinking I need to have a box to save these treasures. Everyday you get them you wonder how you can keep them and so they get tossed once the fridge is too full. I am thinking of making each child a box to store there most precious creations. I look back at them and smile!

My hair

Man I just tried a new shampoo out yesterday and was excited because my hair looked great. I come and sit down and Joy decides to beautify me. I have my hair in 3 pony tails and a band around the top. Well about half way through the day my bangs were standing straight up! Yikes! I kept it up because she was so excited about it and thought mommy looked beautiful. Wouldn't you know she has styled me again! I wish I could take a picture to show you how I look! My would you be laughing at me! Think flashbacks to childhood that only a child could get away with.

Laughing food

Oh my goodness I think I put something extra funny in the food tonight! I don't know what it is about dinner time but it always excites our kids. My oldest is eating his food with a weird look on his face and goes "Mom are these beans out of season?" I look and say "a little they are peas!" Of coarse when you start to think about it how did he get to middle school and not know what a pea was. I just busted out laughing at him. I couldn't believe he was serious. Really it is not a strange thing for us to be eating.

That just totally started our kids on the funny trail. Then we all look over at the baby who was just sitting there making obnoxious noises to fit right in. Oh my goodness she is so one of them. They all thought it was funny.

Then JD decides to complain about school. They only let you use the bathroom for 30 seconds 3 times a semester. SO I look at him and go what do you precipitate on the floor the rest of the time. Is this good economics or something... the janitor only has to clean 3 times a semester and less water usage? Then I am thinking what do all the teachers get together just to say which child used the bathroom to max there 3 times. Really I found that funny. So don't you know that just highlighted our funny farm tonight.

Well I sure hope we accomplish something before the day is done! Yikes we are full of it!

Last night I was sitting on the sofa when D came up and snuggled on one side and JD on the other. All I could help but think is life doesn't get any better than that! I can't believe how big the boys are now. Sometimes I am afraid to blink because I think they will be all grown up! D. is taking archery now and really enjoying it. We are trying to decide whether to get him a bow and arrow for Christmas. We really want to support him in what he is doing. On the same hand safety is always an issue. Joel is still pushing for basketball.... it is his passion right now.

Rosie just seems to be growing in leaps in bounds. I can't believe how much weight she has packed on. She has become quite the pig for one who wouldn't eat. She is sleeping through the night now which is such a huge relief. She has been waving for awhile but now says bye with it. Mama tops her all time favorite word though. You know I love every minute of it. I think she has become a living doll to all of her brothers and sisters. I don't think I have ever seen one child get so much attention. Good thing she likes it.

Joy and Elijah have emptied their toys in the bathroom sink and now in the tub for an afternoon of entertainment. It is a cold rainy day so I can't figure out how they can still stand to be in there. I am enjoying the peace.

Elijah is back to his smiley self and getting more independent. This morning he woke up at 5 am to visit with his sisters. I went to wake them up for school and found him up on Dawn's bed. Too cute they were in there having a party. Good thing they didn't mind.

Joanie has a big project due for school on back then vs now. I have been enjoying this one. I am trying to figure out how a 5th grade project is suppose to be done by a 1st grader.

Dawn is finally deciding to use her roller skates. I think she has found her backside a few times but keeps pressing on. Yikes!

Church

We have been doing home church for lack of finding one we like. So Sunday David is trying to teach the kids about respect. So feeling he has not made his point he throws the Bible at them! Okay just imaginge the shocked look on my face. If you know David you know how calm and mild mannered he is. So it looked so funny to watch him do that. I am thinking the kids didn't learn anything but Daddy threw the Bible at us. Hopefully next week will go better.

Glitter

Well we always here the saying all that glitters is not gold. Well it is gold glitter. Elijah and Joy decided to submarine their brothers with glitter. Where they got it I will never know. Lets just say that JD and D's pillows, clothes and room is full of sparkles. D took a shower before bed last night which made it all stick. So as he was trying to get ready for the bus he was trying to desparkle with no chance of it happening anytime soon. Then he wet his hair thinking it would help. I think a 5th grade boy going to school sparkling is a bit of a mortifying experience! He tried to take a good attitude though. Just think of what your kids can get into when you try to clean and can NOT keep your eyes constantly on them.

JD started all of the submarining because of watching Parent Trap. I think I am sorry I let them watch the old movie which I thought was tame. You never know what will spark something in your children. Jd was leaving the wrappers on the kids food and stuffing it in there sandwiches while making lunch. Joy found it so humorous that she decided to strip the beds in the girls room. She has been very creative in what she finds to do. I have also learned you have to watch out for the quiet ones.... who knew they could be so devious!

I have to say all of the trouble they got into yesterday started out with the best greeting. Elijah ran down the hall all excited to see me. His little body gave the biggest sqeeze and then he looked up at me with those big blue eyes and goes "Good morning Mama, I missed you!" It can't get any better then that so I guess I will take the creativity!
